Calls Needed For Veto Override

As we have previously reported, the House voted overwhelmingly to override the Governor’s veto of the HB2461.  The Oklahoma Constitution says that the chamber of origin has a week to begin the override process.  Article 6, Section 11 of the Oklahoma Constitution also says after the chamber of origin votes “it shall be sent, together with the [Governor’s] objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered.” (emphasis added).  The word “shall” means there is no debate or option to it.  The Senate must also vote to override the Governor’s veto.

Please call or email Senator Bingman (405-521-5528 or bingman@oksenate.gov) and Senator Schulz (405-521-5612 or schulz@oksenate.gov).  Ask them to vote to override the Governor’s veto of HB2461.
