OK2A Announces Annual Awards

OK2A announced its annual award winners at the 2013 Oklahoma Second Amendment Policy Conference and Dinner.  There were several awards to hand out, both for legislators and non-legislators.  Below is a list of 2013 OK2A award winners:

The Defender of the Second Amendment Award is given to legislators who have a pro-gun voting record.  This list is rather long, so it will be released on the website in August.

The Patriot Legislator Award is given to “the legislator who aggressively defends the God-given right of the individual to self-preservation and actively supports the restoration of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”  This year’s winners are: Representatives Dan Fisher, Ken Walker, Sean Roberts, Paul Wesselhoft, Mark McCullough, Jeff Hickman, Josh Cockroft, and Senators Nathan Dahm, Ralph Shortey, and Kyle Loveless.

The Freshman Legislator of the Year Award is given to the “freshman legislator who aggressively defends the God-given right of the individual to self-preservation and who advances significant legislation to restore the Second Amendment right of the individual to keep and bear arms.”  This year’s winners are Representative Jon Echols and Senator AJ Griffin.

The Minuteman Legislator of the Year Award is given to the “legislator who aggressively defends the God-given right of the individual to self-preservation and who advances significant legislation to restore the Second Amendment right of the individual to keep and bear arms.”  This year’s winners are Representatives Tom Newell, Sally Kern, and Senator Greg Treat.

The Patrick Henry Volunteer of the Year Award is given for “selfless service and dedication to preserving liberty and securing our right to self-preservation.”  This year’s winners are Amanda McGovern and Doug Friesen.

The James Caldwell Pastor of the Year Award is given to “the pastor who aggressively defends the God-given right of the individual to self-preservation and actively supports the restoration of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms while boldly leading his congregation in the effort to restore the Biblical principles of liberty and the Judeo/Christian ethic in our society and government.”  This year’s winner is Pastor Paul Blair.

The George Mason Peace Officer of the Year Award is given to the “peace officer who aggressively defends the God-given right of the individual to self-preservation and actively supports the restoration of the Second Amendment right of the individual to keep and bear arms while serving with honor and integrity.”  This year’s winners are Sheriff Bob Colbert (Wagoner County) and Sergeant Tim Tucker (University of Oklahoma Police Department).

Finally, the James Madison Person of the Year Award is given for “exceptional leadership and devoted service to the cause of liberty and the restoration of the God-given right to self-preservation.”  This year’s winners are Larry Pratt (Executive Director, Gun Owners of America) and Congressman Bridenstine (OK Dist 1).
